Darren Brow
B.Kin, BCAK Registered Kinesiologist,
CSEP - Certified Exercise Physiologist, NSCA.
Darren obtained his bachelor’s degree in Human Kinetics from the University of British Columbia and is a registered kinesiologist (BCAK), certified exercise physiologist (CSEP-CEP) and a member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). His experience includes sports and MVA rehabilitation, sport specific coaching/conditioning for hockey, soccer, kayaking, tennis and weight training. He also has worked with ultra-endurance athletes providing periodized conditioning programs and nutrition management for events such as the Test of Metal and the 50/100 Miler Squamish Test Of Running Metal (STORMY). Darren has snowboarded competitively in Europe and became a certified snowboard instructor (CASI-Level 1) teaching in Zermatt, Switzerland and Cypress Mountain, Canada. Darren is also active in the communities of Burnaby and Maple Ridge educating the general public regarding injury prevention, lifestyle change, nutrition and optimal health and wellness through a variety of workshops and seminars. He is currently working towards certification as a strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS). Other interests include high altitude mountaineering, rock climbing, swimming, running, cycling, tennis, hockey and has backpacked extensively through Europe, Africa, North
& South America, South East Asia & the South Pacific. |

Mia Oshanek
B.Kin, BCAK Registered Kinesiologist,
CSEP - Certified Exercise Physiologist, BCRPA-WT.
Mia is a registered kinesiologist with the BCAK, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from the University College of the Fraser Valley. She also is a CSEP-Certified Exercise Physiologist and BCRPA Certified Weight Trainer. Mia has a passion for helping people whether it’s recovering from injury or increasing health and fitness levels. She works with everyone from rehabilitation clients to athletes looking to enhance their performance. She provides rehabilitation assessment and programming, fitness and body composition testing, one-on-one physical health consultations and exercise programming to our clients. Mia’s strengths include individualized programs customized according to the client’s goals, needs and fitness levels designed to work the whole body. Her programs feature core stabilization techniques, cardiovascular endurance, strength training and flexibility programs. Mia’s personal interests include: camping, hiking, snowboarding, playing softball, listening to music and visiting with friends and family. |

Donna
Gardecki
M.Sc. Phys. Ed., CSEP-CFC,
NSCA-CSCS, NCCP III (Karate), FCE.
Registered Kinesiologist (BCAK).
Donna is a registered kinesiologist
and has worked for West Coast
Kinesiology since 1995. She obtained
her bachelor’s degree in physical
education (Athletic Training Stream)
and masters degree in physical
education training from the
University of Alberta. She has
worked with clients with a variety
of conditions including sports and
motor vehicle injuries and
brain/spinal injuries for the past
eight years. Her NCCP level 3
certification finds her teaching
NCCP level 1 and 2 theory courses.
She is a master course conductor for
Technical Karate and she sits on the
NCCP committee of the National
Karate Association. Her achievements
include completing a 3rd
degree black belt in karate, a
fourth place finish in the 1997
international karate competition,
1981 Alberta Winter Games medal
winner in badminton, and a 2nd
place finish in the 1986 Southern
Alberta Bodybuilding Championship.
Donna is also the author of two
published papers on sport and
exercise, as well as a contributing
author to the current NCCP level II
Karate Technical manual. Her other
pursuits and interests include
nutrition, hockey, running and
providing functional capacity
evaluations for injured clients. |

Kerry
Senchyna
B. Sc. Kin., CSEP-PFLC, HFAC
(Assoc.), FCE, NCCP I. Registered
Kinesiologist (BCAK).
Kerry is the owner and president of
West Coast Kinesiology and is a
registered kinesiologist (BCAK). He
has been a resident of Maple Ridge
Since 1970 and has played a variety
of sports here, including hockey,
baseball, soccer, swimming (Coquitlam
Sharks) and basketball (MRSS and
Douglas College). Kerry has
developed rehabilitation and
athletic training programs since
1992 at the Maple Ridge Leisure
Centre. Most recently, he obtained
his PFLC designation, which is the
highest fitness testing designation
in Canada and certifies trainers to
test elite athletes. He was formerly
the director of dry-land training
for RPM Hockey schools and is a
speaker for public and private
groups on cardiovascular disease,
injury prevention in the workplace
and athletic training issues. He is
actively involved in creating and
developing community based exercise
programs for both the districts of
Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows. Email:

This award-winning 26,000 square feet facility features a 6 lane 25 metre competition pool, a 4 lane 25 metre teach pool, a leisure pool, toddlers pool, large whirlpool, water slide and warm wading pool. Upstairs there is a double gymnasium for basketball, volleyball, floor hockey, soccer and many other sports as well as 2 racquetball and one squash court. The weight room features extensive free weight, cable stacks and easy to use Apex weight machines along with 24 pieces of cardiovascular bikes, treadmills, elliptical trainers, stair-masters and rowers as well as a full complement of spinning bikes for classes or for individual use. Wheelchair lifts are available for all pools. West Coast Kinesiology’s private clinic is over 1,500 square feet of state-of-the-art athletic training equipment for sport conditioning, rehabilitation and personal training. Equipment ranges from advanced balance boards, Bosu’s, to TRX, kettlebells, medicine balls and agility ladders.
It also features the Greg Moore Youth Centre and has daycare for youngsters. |
