Rebecca Swan
B.H.K B.A.H.Sc CAT(C) – Certified Athletic Therapist
Rebecca completed her degree, with
High Honours in Applied Health
Science (Athletic Therapy) in 2007
from Sheridan College. Once becoming
a certified Athletic Therapist she
took on the position of Head
Athletic Therapist for the Canadian
Woman's National Soccer Team. During
this time she worked with the
athletes on a day to day basis as
well as going on several
international tours with the team
throughout 2007-2008. Becky stays
true to her view," that anyone can
be an athlete, being active and fit
is part of what an athlete is".
Growing up she competed in a variety
of sports, particularly alpine
skiing. Upon going to university she
traded her skis in for a pair of
rugby boots to play for the UBC
Woman's rugby team as well as living
and playing rugby in New Zealand in
2002. Since hanging up her boots in
2004, she stays active in her spare
time by skiing, mountain biking,
hiking and long distance running.
She works with acute and chronic
injuries providing manual therapy,
soft-tissue and joint mobilization,
MET and trigger point release,
electrotherapy modalities and
exercise prescription in her
practise. She is a certified
practitioner of
Active Release Techniques (ART)
for the lower extremity. She
provides therapy for all orthopaedic
and sports injuries – you don’t have
to be an athlete to benefit.
Her education includes: Canadian
Athletic Therapist Association -
Certified Athletic Therapist CAT(C),
2007; Bachelor of Applied Health
Science (Athletic Therapy) High
Honors, Sheridan College, 2007;
Bachelor of Human Kinetics, UBC,

experience has included working with
the Canadian Woman's National Soccer
Team, Whitecaps Men's Residency
Program, BC Soccer Provincial Teams,
and as a student therapist with Club
Physio Plus, Hamilton Tiger Cats,
McMaster University with the Men's
Rugby, Woman's Basketball, Sports
Injury Clinic and the University Of
British Columbia Football team.

Nick Murray
B.H.K., CAT(C) - Certified Athletic Therapist
Nick completed his bachelors of human kinetics in 2007 from the University of British Columbia. He then attended Mount Royal College in Calgary to complete his Advanced Certificate in Athletic Therapy, and is currently an athletic therapy certification candidate. Nick is certified as a Canadian Red Cross First Responder including CPR/AED Level HCP, and as a practitioner of Soft Tissue Release (STR) for the entire body.
While studying athletic therapy in Calgary Nick worked as a student therapist/trainer for the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology’s (SAIT) varsity men’s volleyball team and the Broncos midget football team. Nick also worked in the SAIT athletic therapy clinic where he treated and rehabilitated varsity athletes. Recent experience in BC includes working at the Western Canadian High School Football Camp at Simon Fraser University, and working as the therapist/trainer for the Richmond AAA Bantam Blues hockey team.
Nick is a passionate hockey and tennis player, and to stay active in his spare time he likes to hike, scramble, play squash and badminton.

Kerry
Senchyna

Kerry is the owner and president of
West Coast Kinesiology and is a
practicing kinesiologist (BCAK). He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from SFU in 1985. He has been a resident of Maple Ridge Since 1970 and has played a variety of sports here, including hockey, baseball, soccer, swimming (Coquitlam Sharks) and basketball (MRSS and Douglas College). Kerry has developed rehabilitation and athletic training programs since 1992 at the Maple Ridge Leisure Centre. Most recently, he obtained his Certified Exercise Physiologist (CEP) designation from CSEP, which is the highest fitness testing designation in Canada and certifies kinesiologists to test elite athletes. It also allows the CEP to prescribe exercise for chronic disease states and metabolic disorders such as diabetes, cardiac conditions (post-MI or surgery), hypertension, hyperlipidemia, MS, MD, obesity, post-stroke and lung function disorders. He is a Functional Capacity Evaluator and an ergonomist and is a member of ACE (Association of Canadian Ergonomists). He was formerly a director of dry-land training for a local hockey school and is a speaker for public and private groups on cardiovascular disease, injury prevention in the workplace and athletic training issues. He is actively involved in creating and developing community based exercise programs for both the districts of Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows and writes a bi-weekly column in the News on a variety of health and recreation topics. His passions include hockey, basketball, running 10K to marathon distances, music, film, writing, and public health and education. Email:

This award-winning 26,000 square feet facility features a 6 lane 25 metre competition pool, a 4 lane 25 metre teach pool, a leisure pool, toddlers pool, large whirlpool, water slide and warm wading pool. Upstairs there is a double gymnasium for basketball, volleyball, floor hockey, soccer and many other sports as well as 2 racquetball and one squash court. The weight room features extensive free weight, cable stacks and easy to use Apex weight machines along with 24 pieces of cardiovascular bikes, treadmills, elliptical trainers, stair-masters and rowers as well as a full complement of spinning bikes for classes or for individual use. Wheelchair lifts are available for all pools. West Coast Kinesiology’s private clinic
(view photos) is over 1,500 square feet of state-of-the-art athletic training equipment for sport conditioning, rehabilitation and personal training. Equipment ranges from advanced balance boards, Bosu’s, to TRX, kettlebells, medicine balls and agility ladders.
It also features the Greg Moore Youth Centre and has daycare for youngsters.
